PRESARIAQ BASICS
the inhabitants of presariaq are anthropromorphic mammals and avians. mammals are more common than avians, but avians are still a prominent minority. the more 'untamed' a species is, the more likely it is to be discriminated against, wolves espescially due to old stories of wolves killing people through their patron cards while they sleep (see patron cards section for context). normal animals do exist and are reffered to as 'ferals'. humans do exist but only in the form of the 12 holies (see the 12 holies for context).
CARD KINGDOMS
in presariaq, there is one country, and it is unnamed. the whole world is simply reffered to as presariaq. however, there are 4 kingdoms; hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades. one may choose to align themselves with one kingdom, and rivalries between them are fierce in some parts of presariaq.
PATRON CARDS
as a sort of coming of age, typically around the ages of 16-22, a strange playing card will show up in your pocket. this is your patron card. destroying it will kill you. the further away from it you are, the more likely you are to die, for whatever reason. once you are dead, the card decomposes as if it were flesh. if the card is destroyed partially, ex with a firearm, it will bleed. any damage to the card that is not fatal will cause an equal amount of wounds, bruises, scrapes etc to show on your body. killing someone through their patron card is known as a patron killing, and is seen as a coward's way of killing someone. often used by mobsters.
CARD EFFECTS
your patron has a strong effect on your life, influenced by its color, number (if it has one), and suit. number cards have better luck the higher the number. aces are very rare and have godlike powers depending on the suit, though always have very very long lifespans. kings, queens and jacks also have powers, though they are much, much weaker than the aces' and dont have the long lifespans aces have. their powers weaken from king to jack. these also influence how you may interact with other people, without even knowing what their card is. if two people have the same card and they are red cards, they will have a long and healthy relationship. however, if in the same scenario, the cards are black, the relationship will be an utter faliure.
CARD EFFECTS CONT
patron cards does not just have the power to influence ones life indirectly. cards themselves have certain aspects, one negative and one positive. hearts are strong-willed, though disenchated. diamonds are prosperous, though materialistic. clubs are joyous, though manic. and spades are sharp-witted, though decieving. these aspects are more often than not, a reflection of a person's personality. think the houses from harry potter. these aspects are usually the cause of frivilous suit wars in communities.
THE 12 HOLIES
the 12 holies are the true forms of the king, queen and jack cards. they are the very characters pictured on the cards, and much like their charicatures, their lower bodies are never seen. there are no true forms of the aces because the ace holders themselves are considered their own holies. the 12 holies do not live within presariaq as the people know of, but rather in a hell like world beneath presariaq known as the holy blood garden. the holy blood garden is mostly dark red rock, neon red sand and huge oceans, lakes and pools of blood. here the 12 holies judge the reincarnations of the card holders. those with lower numbers go to the jack, those with medium numbers go to the queen, and those with high numbers go to the king. those who hold the king, queen, or jack cards see their patron. these special card holders are hand picked by the holies, though the aces are completely random and are decided by a previous ace upon death and can overwrite the king, queen or jack cards.
